Trip to Oxford

We had so many pictures from our short trip, so I'll do several posts. Plus a few places we went to I don't remember the names. I'll have to check with Jeff on those!
First is the pub associated with C.S. Lewis having frequented. The Eagle and the Child is more familiarly referred to today as 'The Bird and the Babe.'

This lamppost is supposedly the inspiration to C.S.Lewis' ideas in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Next are some pictures from Christ's College where parts of Harry Potter were filmed. We were not able to see the dining hall, because students were eating lunch at the time. How Cool! We did manage to get a photo of the staircase leading to the dining hall. Look familiar?

This is the memorial stone in a wall telling about how Hugh Latimer, Nicholas Ridley and Thomas Cranmer were burned at the stake for their faith. The spot in the road was left unpaved in their honor.

These two shots were taken out a side door at Christ's College Chapel. The shot of the building is where Lewis Carroll's office was. The story is that he was watching his daughter, Alice, play in the courtyard below and was inspired to write Alice in Wonderland. The green door in this courtyard was also inspiring in his story. There is lots of unique Alice in Wonderland things for sale in the bookshop there.

These last photos are of The Trout, where Jeff and I went to eat one night. It was very nice. We were in a room with three tables and a roaring fire. The food was excellent and the wine good too. I had cheesecake and it was wonderful as well. This place is also an Inn. In the back there are peacocks and rushing water coming from under a bridge. When the weather is warmer, it must be a fun place to hang out.
The dark photo is a peacock up in the tree, getting ready to sleep for the night. Didn't know they slept in trees!

Enjoy and Oxford, Part II will be coming soon!
